Join Allison in South India for an Ayurvedic wellness immersion with panchakarma and yogic practices like meditation, pranayama, asana, and mantra. This will be a nourishing time to focus on yourself, your health, and ultimately to gain the clarity and vision that comes from safety, rest, and tender care. You can read more here about Vaidyagrama and their commitment to being aligned with nature. The greater the harmony with nature, the richer the health and wellness that is created. Your meals will be specifically prepared for you based on your particular health needs, and there will be a daily practice as well as a kirtan most nights.
According to Ayurveda, wellness includes:
- Physical well-being
- Mental and emotional well-being
- Spiritual well-being
- Social well-being
- Environmental well-being
What is Ayurveda and Panchakarma?
Ayurveda is ancient Vedic Indian medicine that stood the test of time and has adapted well to the modern world. Ayurveda takes a comprehensive approach, offering preventative, curative, and promotive therapies. It's aim is to recognize your inherent relativity with nature and to address the whole system of you as opposed to only addressing the presenting symptom. Your initial consultation considers your particular health concerns, but also focuses on the mind, emotions, and whole body. Your past will be brought up and studied, as well as your current health needs. Medical reports will be reviewed if submitted before arrival - and the Doctors are skilled at addressing a wide range of health concerns including allergies, respiratory issues, cancers, gastro-intestinal issues, diabetes, headaches, hormonal problems, fertility, lifestyle problems, long covid, arthritis, bone health, sports injuries, and much more.
In Panchakarma (retreat therapies aimed at cleansing the body and mind of unwanted waste) a Vaidya (Doctor) uses their knowledge, training, experience and intuition to plan a schedule that helps your body cleanse, repair, and rejuvenate as fast and efficiently as possible so that you can heal quickly, easily, and completely. You can expect to have at least one treatment a day which will likely include abhyanga (full body oil massage).
You can read more about Vaidyagrama's approach to working with the bhutas (nature's elements) here.

- Here is info regarding India and immunization
- Here is a word from Vaidyagrama regarding immunization: "The decision has to be that of the patient. If you feel that your physical system cannot take the rigors of travel (or if you have some serious health problems), then it is good to go in for a standard immunization package. If you feel that your mind can let you down during your travels, then again it is good to go in for a standard immunization package. On the other hand, if you feel that your body and mind can stand up to the rigors of travel and that you will not feel guilty about not having been immunized (in case you fall sick which can happen even if are immunized), then you should not go in for immunization." Thus while they themselves are not in favour of immunisation, they choose to leave the decision to the inbound patient since what is most important is for the patient to feel relaxed and not stressed about these decisions.
